Star of the Sea Centennial Celebration
Proud of its tradition of academic excellence and values-based education, Star has embarked upon its centennial celebration and its first major capital campaign in recent years. The campaigns goal is to raise $1 million in 3 phases, to launch the schools next century of accomplishments.
Scientific principles and ideas play an ever-more important role in daily life; thus citizens of the future need a fundamental understanding and appreciation of science. Motivated by this conviction, the first phase of the Capital Campaign seeks to raise $350,000 for a Centennial Science Laboratory, to be housed in existing space adjacent to our gymnasium. The project includes facility renovations, equipment, furniture, and materials. The laboratory will enrich science education programs and activities for all students, particularly in middle school, presently without facilities for hands-on science learning outside the classroom. Construction of the Centennial Science Lab is expected to begin in Fall 2009.
The second and third phases of the campaign will begin in 2010/11, as soon as the first is complete. These phases seek to raise $650,000 towards physical plant improvements, including bathrooms and windows replacement, as well as curriculum enhancements.

The Centennial Science Lab needs your support! You can celebrate 100 years of Star of the Sea and ensure that future generations receive a quality science education. What follows are the many ways you can give:
Supporter - $1 to $99 donation
A donation at this level pays for teacher and student materials such as safety goggles, microscope slides, and tweezers.
Names of donors at this level will have their names appear in the Spring Gala program.
Friend -- $100 to $499 donation
A $100 gift helps purchase a microscope.
Donors at this level will have their names inscribed on personalized tiles that will be placed in the completed Lab. Names will also appear in the Spring Gala auction program.
Patron -- $500 to $999 donation
A gift of at least $500 can help purchase a digital microscope to allow teacher demonstrations.
Donors at this level receive a personalized lab tile, commemorative Centennial pin, and recognition in the Spring Gala auction program.
Sponsor -- $1,000 to $2,999 donation
Your $1,000 gift or more enables the school to purchase lab furniture.
Donors at this level receive all Patron level benefits plus two (2) tickets to the Holiday Fashion Show and recognition on a plaque displayed at the school.
Hawks Circle -- $3,000 to $4,999 donation
A $3,000 or higher donation helps Star to purchase at least two student lab workstations.
Donors at this level receive all Patron level benefits, plus four (4) tickets to the Holiday Fashion Show, and recognition on a plaque displayed in the school.
Blue & Gold Circle -- $5,000 to $ 9,999 donation
A $5,000 gift helps purchase at least two mobile demonstration carts with overhead mirrors.
Donors at this level receive all Hawks Circle benefits plus a naming plate on the lab cart or other lab equipment.
Star Circle -- $10,000 to $19,999 donation
A $10,000 gift goes toward electrical and technological upgrades that accommodate computers and allow students and teachers some mobility during lab projects.
Donors at this level receive all the Hawks Circle benefits, plus a naming plate on a Lab equipment or work area, and 1 VIP ticket to all Centennial events.
Stella Maris Circle -- $20,000 to $39,999 donation
A $20,000 gift goes toward the building and maintenance of the lab.
Donors at this level receive all the Blue & Gold Circle benefits plus 2 VIP tickets to all Centennial events and naming of Centennial Lab workstation or area.
Science Endowment -- $40,000+
The endowment will ensure continued growth of the Star of the Sea Science program.
Donors at this level receive all the Stella Maris Circle benefits plus the ability to name an endowment (e.g. Joseph Smith Science Endowment).
Gift Acknowledgement
All gifts of $1,000 and above will be acknowledged in a plaque prominently displayed in the Star of the Sea School. Gifts of any amount will be acknowledged by a letter to each donor and will be included in a Centennial Campaign Honor Roll, published at the conclusion of the centennial celebrations.
